Doris Spooner, 90, of Morenci, Mich., died Dec. 24, 2013, at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, Mich.
She was born Jan. 2, 1923, to Joe and Mildred (Borton) Link in Franklin Township, Ohio. She graduated as salutatorian of the Gorham Fayette High School in 1941 and married John L. Spooner on May 13, 1944, in Adrian. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 2003.
Doris lived in the Canandaigua area all of her life. She and John owned and operated a florist shop and nursery for a number of years. Later Doris became the secretary at Sand Creek Elementary School.
When they retired, Doris and John spent winters in Eufaula, Ala., and summers at their cottage on West Grand Traverse Bay. Doris enjoyed sewing, reading, flower arranging, painting, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Bruce (and Kay) Spooner, Kay (and Mahlon) Keller and Pat (and Dee) Spooner; grandchildren, Marci Keller, Nancy (and Joshua) Hall, Molly Keller, Joshua (and Kelly) Spooner, Sharon Spooner, Megan (and Jeff) McVay, and Justin Spooner; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hall, Kennedy Spooner, Jackson Spooner, Noah Keller-Spaulding and Colton McVay; and a sister-in-law, Doris (and Tiny) Link.
Besides her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; an infant granddaughter, Mary Jane Keller; an infant sister, Jeanie Link; brothers Foster and Curtis Link; and a sister-in-law, Joy Link.
Visitation is planned from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. Private services will follow. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
