C. Dean Garwood, 78, of Hudson, Mich., died Dec. 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Holloway, Mich., to Harry Evart and Ina Elizabeth (Johns) Garwood. On June 16, 1956, he married Joyce Emmons and she survives.
Dean retired from Merillat’s after serving for 35 years. He was a member of Jasper Bible Church. Dean enjoyed origami and was an avid CB radio user. He loved horses and was involved with his children in 4-H horse events. On Sunday afternoons he was the official for ball games after church with his nieces and nephews, church kids and the neighborhood kids. This is just one of the many things he did with his family and friends that will be remembered as great memories.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debra (and James) Bills of Hudson, Michael (and Loretta) Garwood of Morenci, Mich., Nancy Jarrell of Niceville, Fla., Steven (and Melissa) Garwood of Lincolnton, N.C., Sheryl (and Bruce) Wilt of Adrian, Mich., and Richard Garwood of Hudson; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald (and Krista) Garwood of Adrian, James (and Ann) Garwood of Monroe, N.C., and William (and Debra) Garwood of Liberty, N.C.; a sister, Penny (and Steve) Coan of Monroe, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are planned at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Adrian Anderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Jewett, his grandson Rev. Dr. Jason Garwood, and Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation is planned Saturday and Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Adrian Anderson Funeral Home.
