Robert Herald Dilworth, 84, of Manitou Beach, Mich., died Nov. 23, 2013, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Clayton, Mich., to Herald and Cecil (Dunn) Dilworth.
He graduated from Morenci High School in 1943 and attended Adrian College for one year. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On Sept. 7, 1979, he married Dorolene Lou Martin in Woodstock Township and she survives. Robert was employed by Citizens Gas Company for 18 years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed visiting northern Michigan, fishing, gardening and reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Dilworth of Manitou Beach; a daughter, Diane (and Ed) Dranginis of Centennial, Colo.; two step-sons, Thomas J. (and Amy) Allen of Manitou Beach and Dennis (and Sue) Allen of Manitou Beach; a brother, George (and Nancy) Dilworth of Morenci; three sisters, Betty Price of Morenci, Frances Fether of Morenci, and Wanda VanArsdalen of Wauseon, Ohio; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a daughter, Debbie Jakeway.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating, at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Visitation is scheduled from noon to 12:45 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee or to the Hickman Cancer Center.
