Richard D. Tinney, 79, of Waldron, Mich., died Oct. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born June 26, 1934, in Hillsdale County, Mich. the son of Earl Harold and Gladys Virginia (Hoover) Tinney. He married Nancy Rutledge on July 2, 1955, in Angola, Ind., and she preceded him in death Jan. 30, 2000. He then married Janet (Davis) Flint on Aug. 2, 2003, in Munson, Mich. and she survives.
Richard was a life-long Waldron area resident, graduating from Waldron High School in 1953. He retired from Tecumseh Products in 1991. Richard attended Munson United Brethren Church and Fairview Missionary Church in Angola, Ind. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by two sons, Richard “Ric,” Jr., of Goliad, Texas, and Michael Tinney of Waldron; one daughter, Kathy Merfeld of Waldron; two stepsons, Glenn (and Jean) Flint of Angola, Ind., Stephen (and Suzanne) Flint of Gibsonville, N.C.; one brother, Robert (and Maxine) Tinney of Prescott, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; four sisters, Jean Brummel, Donna Loomis, Joan Lauer and Janet Tinney; and one brother, Dean Tinney.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Pastor Glenn Flint, Pastor Stephen Flint and Rev. Don Merillat officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Sunday.
