LaMoyne R. “Shad” Shadbolt, 88, of Hudson, Mich., died Oct. 11, 2013, in Adrian, Mich.
He was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Medina, Mich., the son of John T. and Lela M. (Sprague) Shadbolt. He married Neva L. Camron on May 17, 1946 in Adrian, and she survives.
LaMoyne lived in Medina most of his life. He attended Medina and Hudson schools, and graduated and received his diploma with the Hudson Class of 2013.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II where he earned several commendations. He was a foreman at the former Stubnitz-Greene where many knew him as “Shad.” He retired in 1982, from what was then Hoover Universal.
LaMoyne was a member of Canandaigua Community Church. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in 1960. After he retired, he served as a caretaker for the church for 16 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, crafting, working in the yard and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, LaMoyne is survived by five children, David (and Connie) Shadbolt of Mesa, Ariz., Stanley (and Rebecca) Shadbolt of Tipton, Mich., Brian (and Linda) Shadbolt of Adrian, Janice Deline of Adrian and Bonita Shadbolt of Ft. Worth, Texas; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Royce Deline; five brothers, Frederick, Junior, Harold, Allen and Robert; six sisters, Vivian, Anna, Ruth, Angeline, Frances and Jean.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday), at Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. William VanValkenberg and Rev. Howard Yatzek officiating. Interment will follow in Medina Cemetery in Hudson with full military honors conducted by Hannan-Colvin Post #180 American Legion of Hudson.
