Hazel L. Pike, 87, of S. Fayette Street, Fayette, Ohio died Sept. 17, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold, Ohio.
She was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Morenci, Mich., to the late Samuel and Ethel (Carter) Baker. She married Sylvan “Zip” E. Waldfogel in Adrian, Mich., in December 1941, and he preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1993. Then on May 13, 1995, she married Willis Pike, in Killeen, Texas, and he also preceded in death.
Hazel was a lifelong Fayette and Morenci area resident. She was employed by Fayette Tubular Products, for which she sold bonds to help establish, and retired in 1989 after 30 years of service.
Hazel was locally well-known for her skill of tart-making, and she was actively involved with the former Pretenders group in Fayette. She was recipient of the Fayette Citizen of the Year award, and she attended the Fayette Church of the Nazarene.
Hazel is survived by a daughter, Geneva (and Richard) Armstrong of Fayette; three grandchildren, Reyner Armstrong of Fayette, Sean (and Marie) Armstrong of U.K., and Michelle (and Martin) Braddy of Morenci; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Besides her parents and husbands, Hazel was predeceased in death by three brothers, Floyd, Virgil, and Francis Baker.
Hazel has been cremated, and a private graveside service will be scheduled at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. No visitation is planned.
