Duane Reppert, 98, of Morenci, Mich. died Sept. 12, 2013, in Blissfield, Mich.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1915, in Morenci, the son of Charles and Wilda (Hall) Reppert. On April 27, 1945, in Adrian, he married Irene Sherman. She preceded him in death Sept. 29, 2006.
Duane was a graduate of Morenci High School. He took drum lessons in Toledo as a young child. He was interested in music and played the drums in the Morenci school band until he graduated in 1933. At an early age he played drums in the Fayette and Morenci community bands and many dance bands.
Duane loved golfing, gardening, dancing, music and traveling. He and Irene traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and some in Europe. Duane worked as a meat cutter in Adrian and in 1950, he and Irene purchased Emerson's Grocery and Meat Market in Morenci which became Duane's Market. They operated the store for 20 years.
Duane is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Gould; a brother-in-law, Gene Sherman; cousins, Janice Stevenson and Carol Wyman; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Irene, Duane was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Harry James Reppert.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Rev. Greg Morrison officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Morenci Congregational Church, Hospice of Lenawee County or to a charity of the donor's choice.
