Ila Rose Bates, 68, of Fayette, Ohio, died June 21, 2013, at her home, following a brief battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 19, 1945, in Delta, Ohio, to the late Kenneth and Helen (Keefer) Double. She married Neil E. Bates on July 2, 1988, at the Fayette United Methodist Church, and he survives.
Ila was a 1963 graduate of Waldron High School, and retired from Fayette Tubular Products following 20 years of employment. She was a past member of the Fayette Lions Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. Ila enjoyed reading and loved to travel, especially to northern Michigan where she and Neil lived for several years.
Addition to her husband, Ila is survived by three sons, Donald L. Bryan, Jr., of Jonesville, Mich., Kevin Eugene (and Kemeko) Bryan of Clayton, Mich., and Ross Ivan (and Donna) Bryan of Pioneer, Ohio; a daughter, Sonya Bryan of Cheboygan, Mich.; a brother, Ross Ivan (and Ruth) Double of Sand Creek, Mich.; a sister, Janet (and Dewayne) Rauth of Clayton; and 10 grandchildren.
In accordance with Ila’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no public services. Interment will take place in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
