James B. Borton, 95, of Wauseon, Ohio, died May 15, 2013, in Fulton Manor, Wauseon.
Jim was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Chesterfield Township, Ohio, to James Leo and Margaret (Boyes) Borton, on the family farm where he lived his entire life.
He was a 1935 graduate of Chesterfield-Dover High School. He married Gladys M. Rupp on June 22, 1941, and she survives.
Jim was a lifelong farmer and served 30 years as a Chesterfield Township clerk and trustee. He was a quiet man, but known for his mechanical skills and quick wit. He attended Tedrow United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, Ronald (and Janet) Borton, of Wooster, Ohio, and Dennis (and Pat) Borton of Roxboro, N.C.; a daughter, Juanita (and Richard) Gunn of Ida, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Abbott, of Melvindale, Mich.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Tedrow United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will follow the interment services in the church. Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, Ohio, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
