Rita Marie Valentine, 82, of Archbold, died Tuesday evening, March 27, 2007 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Rita was born in Swanton on Sept. 25, 1924, the daughter of the late Romanus and Rosa Gillen. On July 8, 1942, she married Howard Valentine, and he preceded her in death in 1996.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold. Prior to her retirement she had worked for Cable and Wire in Swanton and then ITT Higbie in Archbold.
Surviving, are two daughters, Diane (and Alvin) Keefer of Fayette, and Brenda (and Terry) Valentine-Reckmo of Dayton; two grandsons, Tim (and Kristi) Keefer of Defiance and Todd Keefer of Fayette; two great-granddaughters, Destiny Keefer of Celina, and Emily Keefer of Defiance; and one brother, Cecil Gillen, of Swanton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, one daughter, Linda Valentine, and one brother, Don Gillen.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold, with the Rev. Father Gary Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home.
