Russell Paul Dohr, Sr., 89, of Pioneer, Ohio, died Jan. 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Maumee, Ohio, to John and Lena (Henfling) Dohr. Russell graduated from Monclova High School in 1941. He studied law at LaSalle College in Chicago for two years before obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
Russell owned and operated Dohrs Bar & Grill in Pioneer for 25 years. Prior to that he was a plant superintendent at Peter Stamping Co. in Fayette, Ohio.
Russell was a member of Wakeman Lodge 522 F.A.M. in Waterville for 53 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite-Zenobia Shrine and BPA in Pioneer for 13 years.
Russ is survived by his children, Russell (and Sherry) Dohr, Jr., of Kalispell, Mont., Deborah (and Bruce) Peterson of Colville, Wash., Dean (and Pat) Rose, Jr., of Wauseon, Ohio, and Thomas (and Robin) Rose of Port Haywood, Va.; sister, Mary Curtis, of Monclova, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Russ was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve, and former wife, Rosemary Henninger; a son, Michael Dohr, of Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Kathy (Rose) Joseph of Helena, Mont.; a granddaughter, Kendra Sue Rose of Fayette, Ohio; and brothers, Charles, John, Robert, Richard and George Dohr.
Memorial services were Jan 14, 2013, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer, Ohio, with Rev. Michael D. Raypholtz officiating.
