Stacy Lee Vereecke, 46, of Archbold, Ohio, died Dec. 17, 2012, at the Defiance Hospice Center after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
He was born May 27, 1966, to Richard and Sonja (Randall) Vereecke, in Wauseon, Ohio. He married his high school sweetheart, Buffie Slattman, on May 24, 1986. He served his country in the United States Army Special Forces for seven years as a chemical specialist and was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. A graduate of Gorham Fayette High School, he worked at Wauseon Machine and then at Sauder Woodworking.
Stacy was a member of Archbold Evangelical Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was the loving father of two children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Stacy is survived by his wife, Buffie; daughter, Marissa (and Ben) Bresson of Wisconsin; a son, Brett Vereecke of Archbold; his parents, Richard (and Pauline) Vereecke of Wauseon and Sonja (and Bob) Morrison of Fayette; his father-in-law, Albert (and Linda) Slattman, Sr., of Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Patricia (and Joseph) Snider of Wauseon; a brother, Richard (and Rhonda) Vereecke of Wauseon; two sisters, Sherri (and Tim) Wagler of Archbold, and Tracy (and David) Knisely of Fayette; a brother-in-law, Albert (and Christine) Slattman, Jr., of Florida; his grandmother, Martha Randall of Fayette; and a grandmother-in-law, Josephine Slattman of West Unity, Ohio.
A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Friday at the Archbold Evangelical Church, with Pastor Jesse Kahler and Elders Jerry Lugbill and John Wilson officiating. Interment will precede at 9 a.m. in the East Monroe Cemetery near Continental. Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. Thursday in the Fireside Room of the church.
