Mary Ellyn Blank, 78, of Wauseon, Ohio, died at her home Oct. 4, 2012, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family and friends.
 
Mrs. Blank was born June 4, 1934, at home in Archbold, Ohio, to Richard and Mary Etta (Dominique) Lauber, now both deceased. She married Theodore Blank on June 16, 1956, who preceded her in death in March of 2009.
 
She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Vincent Medical School of Nursing in 1955. She worked for Saint Vincent Hospital in the early 1960s.
 
Mary Ellyn and Ted moved to Wauseon in 1965 and she was employed by Dr. R.K. Vogel in his private practice for more than 20 years. She then started a career at the Fulton County Health Center in the Stress Unit and prior to retirement, finished her medical career in the Utilization Review Department completing 50 years in nursing.
 
Mrs. Blank was a member of Saint Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She and her husband served as CYO youth co-coordinators and on parish council and several Toledo Diocesan committees and professional organizations throughout her lifetime.
 
She was also a member of the Wauseon High School sports and music booster organizations and a patron of the Fort Defiance Players Community Theatre.
 
She is survived by two sons, Jamie (and Susi) Blank of Defiance, Ohio, Jeff (and Kathy) Blank of Holland, Mich.; and a daughter, Jenny (and Dale) Bates of Fayette, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Tony (and Angie) Blank, Kris Blank, Lindsey (and Joe) Metts, Tedd (and Melanie) Blank, Bobby Blank, Mary Blank, Trisha (and Brodie) Bates, and Tiffany Bates; three great-grandsons, Anthony Blank, Jr., Alexander Blank and Jackson Metts; three brothers, Tom (and Barb) Lauber of Naples, Fla., Ed (and Bonnie) Lauber of Archbold, Robert (and Bonnie) Lauber of Wauseon; and a sister, Pam (the late William) Chesnut of Spring, Texas.
 
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday,Oct 8, with Rev. Fr. Robert Holden officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Caspar Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Pope John XXIII room of Saint Caspar Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon.
