Donna L. Vanlerberg, 85, formerly of Morenci, Mich., died March 7, 2012, at Friendship Village of Tempe, Ariz., where she had been a resident the past six years.
She was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Napoleon, Ohio, to the late Walter C. and Helen (Brubaker) Box. She married Charles Vanlerberg on Nov. 4, 1952, in Wauseon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1991.
Donna lived her early life in the Napoleon and Wauseon areas, and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1944.
Charles and Donna and their young family moved from Wauseon to a farm on Mulberry Road in rural Morenci in 1968, and attended Munson United Brethren Church. Donna is remembered for her deep love of her family, as well as cooking, quilting, gardening, playing cards and polka dancing.
Donna is survived by four children, Janet (and Thomas) McBroom of Chandler, Ariz., Robert (and Maxine) Vanlerberg of Pittsford, Mich., David (and Kathy) Vanlerberg of Morenci, Mich., and John (and Charlene) Vanlerberg of Wauseon; a son-in-law, Rick Brandeberry of Adrian, Mich.; a sister, Joann Boyers of Wauseon; eight grandchildren, Jared McBroom, Jana (and Steve) Beck, Jill McBroom, Jeremy (and Geneva) Vanlerberg, Brian (and Jennifer) Vanlerberg, Jennifer (and Jake) Blaker, Julie (and Derrick) Alward, and Joanie (and Jason) Peck; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Brandeberry; a grandson, Eric Brandeberry; three sisters, Evelyn Reichert, Peg Hohenberger, and Jean Reutz; and a brother, Denton Box.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Pastor Tom Brodbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is planned from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday.
