Shirley A. Green, 75, of Morenci, Mich., died Jan. 11, 2012, at Provincial House in Adrian, Mich.
Shirley was born Aug. 11, 1936, at home in Fairfield Township, the daughter of William and Marie (Newell) Lemke. On Nov. 11, 1956, she married Kenneth D. Green at Ridgeville Bible Church in Jasper, Mich.
Shirley was known as a devoted wife and mother, and treasured her children and her grandson. She loved to cook and helped with many of the neighbor kids wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners, and with family reunions. She loved to embroidery, knit and crochet, and had fun with flower arranging. She belonged to the State Line Extension group for many years and also taught 4-H knitting class.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Becky Zook of Sand Creek, Mich.; a grandson, Arthur Zook of Sand Creek; an ex-son-in-law, Bill Zook; her sister-in-law, Marian Lemke; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Richard Kern; a brother, Robert W. Lemke; her parents; two nieces; and a nephew.
Funeral services are planned at noon Saturday, Jan.14, at Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Reverend William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Ohio. Visitation is scheduled from 10 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
