Howard Lee “Howie” Miller, 69, of Fayette, Ohio, died at his home Dec. 27, 2011.
He was born Dec. 28, 1941, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Victorine (Dominique) Miller. He married Phyllis Grant on April 24, 1970, in Fayette, and she survives.
Howard lived his early life in Lyons, where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing at Darby’s Corners near Fayette. He retired from Jeep in Toledo in 1992, where he was employed for 30 years. Howard was a member of the Morenci American Legion and the Wauseon VFW.
In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by two daughters, Jody Jennings of Fayette and Shannon (and Lloyd) Salmons of Romulus, Mich.; six brothers, Gene Miller of Lyons, Don (and Arlene) Miller of Indiana, Doug (and Lori) Miller of Delta, Ohio, Sam (and Agnes) Miller of Delta, Bob (and Bobbie) Miller of Lyons, and Tom Miller of Jackson, Mich.; two sisters, Linda (and Bill) Higgins of Waldron, Mich., and Lucy Ames of Delta; and three grandchildren, Austin, Lauren, and Hailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet and Joanne.
Following Howard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Father Gary Ferguson officiating. Visitation is scheduled Saturday morning for two hours preceding the service.
