Maurice J. Stuckey, 83, of Fremont, Ind., and formerly of Wauseon, Archbold and Pettisville, Ohio, died Sept. 8, 2011, at Parkview North Hospice, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Maurice was born to Dennis Stuckey and Herma Rupp who raised him in the rural Pettisville area. On June 15, 1947, he married Ilva Schrock in Midland, Mich.

Most of his adult life Maurice worked as an over-the-road truck driver and had the distinction of driving more than two million miles without an accident. Following his retirement, he assisted his son, Mike, at M&C Trenching and became a part of his new community in Fremont.

In his youth, Maurice became a member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church. He was a faithful church member all his life and served as a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. His current membership is with the Fremont Community Church where he served as Elder. 

In addition to his wife, Maurice is survived by six children, Karen (and Glen) Grieser of Hamilton, Ind., Sandra (and Bill) Fordley of Fort Worth, Texas, Debra (and John) Leininger of Fayette, Ohio; Michael (and Cheryl) Stuckey of  Fremont, Ind., Randall (and Sandra) Stuckey of,  Archbold, Ohio; and Denise (and Doug) Johnson of Fremont, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-sisters, Lois (and Melvin) Leidig of Canton, Ohio, Ruth Nafziger of Archbold, Ohio, and Lavonne Bixler of Saginaw Mich.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, in infancy; a brother, Kenneth,  in infancy; his parents; and step-mother, Mable (Klopfenstein, Gisel) Stuckey.

Funeral Services are planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Ind., with Rev. Darold Beck and Dr. Greg Chupp officiating.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Community Church.
