Ida Joughin, 96, of Morenci, Mich., died Monday, May 30, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Highland, Mich.
She was born June 8, 1914, in Alvordton, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Ann Belle (Miller) Douglass. On Aug. 16, 1934, in Angola, Ind., she married Earl Joughin. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1997.
Irene was a graduate of West Unity High School in West Unity, Ohio. She spent most of her life in the Morenci and Munson area on a farm. She enjoyed farm animals and hard work. Besides the farm she worked at Strydel in Stryker, Ohio, and at Fayette Tubular in Fayette, Ohio. She was a member of the Munson United Brethren Church and a member of the Ontario Club of the Munson area.
Irene enjoyed Bingo, cards and being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Leah Jean (and Jack) Nicholas of Highland; two sons, Weldon (and Carolyn) Joughin of Morenci and Alan Joughin of Fayette, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Earl, Ida was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Vera Hendricks, Mazie Clark and Genevieve Beauchamp; and one brother, Royal Douglass.
Funeral services are planned at 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Rev. Don Merillat officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
