John Max Kelley

John Max Kelley, 102, of Osseo, Mich., died March 23, 2011, at his home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Wright Township to John and Clara (Nets) Kelley.

Max retired from Southwest Industrial Contractors in Little Rock, Ark.  He was a graduate of Waldron High School and lived the majority of his life in the Osseo and Morenci areas.  Max attended the First Congregational Church in Pittsford.  Among his many work experiences, Max built the first bowling alley in Morenci and worked on the atom bomb project in Hanford, Wash., during World War II.  Max was the founder and organizer of the Kelley Golf Scramble.

He is survived by a son, Michael (and Cathy) Kelley of Houston, Texas; grandsons and families, Mike (and Venetta) Hendry and Tim (and Evette) Hendry, both of Las Vegas; nieces Dorothy Wheeler, Janet Gillespie and Joyce (and Ron) Bockman; nephew Roger Zimmerman of Albuquerque, N. M.; and a friend and care giver, Susie Heller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Lucille Thompson; and a daughter, Patricia.

Cremation took place and interment will follow at a later date in California.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Pittsford First Congregational Church Building Fund.
