He was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Fayetteville, W. Va., to Willard and Dorothy (Bayes) Lavinder, Sr. He married Patricia Milliman in Angola, Ind., on Oct. 10, 1975, and she survives.
Pete was a lifelong Fayette area resident. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1962 and was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was employed at TRW in Fayette for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Besides his wife, Pete is survived by two sons, Brent (and Jennifer) and Rusty; two grandsons, Dakota and Noah; two sisters, Rita (and Jim) Borton and Kathy Borton; a sister-in-law, Karen Lavinder and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Lavinder.
A memorial service is planned at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Winston Hatcliff officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
