Alice Janette Betz, 79, of Sand Creek, Mich., died Nov. 3, 2006, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, Mich.
She was born July 9, 1927, in Haskins, Ohio, to Amon and Catherine (Miller) Daniels. She married Eugene Betz on May 30, 1947, and he survives.
Alice was a homemaker with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed bird watching, walking in the woods and playing cards with her grandchildren. Her family will remember her as the best cookie and pie baker.
Alice was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lyons, Ohio, and its Rosary and Altar Society. She taught catechism for more than 10 years.
Besides her husband of 59 years, Alice is survived by children, Karlynn (and Ed) Spreder of Longmont, Colo., Dan Betz (and fiancée, Tina) of Jenison, Mich., Beverly (and Paul) Bucar of North Canton, Ohio, Jeff (and Debbie) Betz of Clarklake, Mich., and Chris (and Heidi) Betz of Wauseon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer and Julie Spreder, Jordan Bucar, Nick, Marcea, Jeremy, Cara, Nathanael, Brooke, Erin, Natalie and Monica Betz; six great-grandchhildren; sisters, Geraldine Miller and Katie Erickson; brother, Jerome Daniels; sister-in-law, Bea Bays and brother-in-law, Dwaine Betz.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ann Zimmerman, and a brother, Jim Daniels.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 at Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora. A scripture service is planned at 7:30 p.m.
Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Frederick Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery.
