Pauline Ruth First, 84, of Weston, Mich., died Oct. 31, 2006, after a battle with ovarian cancer, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee and her family.

She was born March 4, 1922 to Peter and Elizabeth (Miller) Brill. She married Welden W. First on Sept. 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1984.

Pauline graduated from Lyons High School in 1939, and was a homemaker most of her life. She was an auxiliary member of the G. Chandler Bond Post #275 and enjoyed participating in parades. She was also a member of the Weston Women’s Club and served as president. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and played the organ. Pauline enjoyed Michigan winters, gardening, cooking, and playing the piano, organ and accordion.

Pauline is survived by children Patrick W. First and Diana S. First, both of Weston, Mich., Stephanie K. (and Gary) Russell of Oakshade, Ohio, and Kathleen H. Strech of Sand Creek; grandchildren, Stephen D. Strech and Jacob R. Strech, both of Sand Creek and Katrina M. (and Corey) Pinter of Adrian; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Nicole Pinter; sisters, Rose Zenz, and Betty (and Cheo) Regalado; an aunt, Jean Miller; five nieces; five nephews; and several cousins.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha A. Fanning, and brothers in-law, Harlan Rell, Howard First, Irv Fanning and Calvin Zenz.

Funeral services are scheduled Nov. 4 at Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or St. John’s Lutheran Church building fund.
