Sidney Beatty, 85, of Wauseon, Ohio, died Feb. 3, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Ypsilanti, Mich.
He was born June 29, 1925, the son of Sidney and Mary (Lamb) Beatty. On March 13, 1943, in Fayette, Ohio, he married Irene Huffman. She preceded him in death Jan. 8, 1999.
Sidney lived in the Morenci area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a UDT. He was formerly employed at High Voltage Systems in Toledo, Ohio, for 28 years as an electrician. Sidney was a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post #265, the Morenci American Legion Post #368, the Wauseon VFW Post #7424 and the Lenawee County 40 & 8 Voiture #997 in Adrian.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl (and Joe) Jamnick of Ypsilanti; two sons, Gary (and Elvia) Beatty of Wauseon, Ohio, and Michael (and Sandra) Beatty of Lyons, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Adonna Lagos, of Florida.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial is planned at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci at a later date. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 40 & 8 memorial service at 7 p.m.
