 Edward D. Figgins, 80, of Allen St., Fayette, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania,  Ohio, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Alvordton, Ohio, to the late DeVillo and Juanita (Severence) Figgins. He married Grace Cully on April 14, 1951, in Angola, Ind., and she preceded him in death Nov. 24, 1988. Ed married Irene Lichtenwald on July 5, 1993, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and she preceded him in death March 4, 2005.

Ed was a longtime resident of Fayette. He retired from TRW in Fayette, formerly Fayette Manufacturing, after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Gorham Fayette Fire Department and the Eagles in Bryan. He attended the Fayette United Methodist Church.

Ed was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan and enjoyed listening to Ernie Harwell, who Ed often quoted, “It’s long-gone.” He enjoyed attending Fayette basketball games, gardening, golfing, and fishing trips in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

Surviving Ed are four children, Cynthia, Beverly, Barbara, and Michael (and Daun) Figgins, all of Fayette; four grandchildren, Brock (and Tonya) Figgins of Wauseon, Ohio, Mackalyn, Jillian, and Jocelyn of Fayette; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Jonah, Andrew, and Gavin; two step-great grandchildren, Amber and Ashtyn of Wauseon; four brothers, Ralph (and Jan) Figgins of Fayette, Robert (and Carolyn) Figgins of Bryan, Ohio, Larry Figgins of Alvordton, Ohio, and Ronald (and Deb) Figgins of Alvordton; three sisters, Janet Borton of Alvordton, Phylis (and Ronald) Hesselschwardt of Defiance, Ohio, and Karen Draper of Jackson, Mich.; six step-children, Kathy Amos, Alan (and Ella) Lichtenwald, David (and Becky) Lichtenwald, Karen (and Curtis) Bentley, Ronald (and Melody) Lichtenwald, and Vicki Lichtenwald; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; a grandson, Collin Figgins; and a brother Harold “Pete” Figgins.

Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31 at the Fayette United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.
