Donald C. “Drag” Montague, 83, of Fayette, Ohio, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Cardin, Okla., to the late Carl and Sarah (Perryman) Montague. He married Virginia Bailey in Morenci, Mich., on March 12, 1947, and she preceded him in death Aug. 30, 2010.

 Drag attended grade school in Morenci and was well-known in the area for his mechanic skills. He recently owned and operated M & M Auto and was a former mayor of Alvordton. He enjoyed socializing and drinking coffee, and is remembered as a great story-teller. He also liked to play cards and pool.

 Surviving Drag are six daughters, Donna (and Dave) Carpenter of Freeport, Ohio, Jerry (and Charles) McMillen of Adrian, Mich., Debra (and Glenn) Rowe of Brewster, N.Y., Kathie (and Mark) Zeigler of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer (and Brent) Lavinder of Brunswick, Ohio, and Wanda (and Leslie) Franklin of Houston, Mo.; six sons, C. Joe (and Brenda) Montague of Fayette, Donald “David” (and Yvonne) Montague of Pioneer, Ohio, William “Steve” Montague of Dallas, Daniel (and Amanda) Montague of West Unity, Ohio, Ben (and Heather) Montague of Stryker, Ohio, and Jody (and Mary) Montague of Mountain View, Mo.; a brother, Charles (and Darlene) Haynes of Alvordton; 35 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Donald Carson Montague, Donnie C. Montague, and Ronnie Joel Montague; a daughter, Bonnie Good; and three brothers, Edwin, Wayne and Gerald.

 Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Rev. Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Lockport Mennonite Church, or to the family to aid in funeral expenses.
