Burnell Venia, Sr., 73, formerly of Fayette, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Ohio Veterans Home near Georgetown, Ohio.
He was born on April 4, 1937, in Morenci the son of Franklin and Elva (Ford) Venia.
Burnell served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 through 1958, joining after graduation from Gorham Fayette High School. He was formerly employed at Challenge & Cook in Bryan, Ohio, until they went out of business. He then took up long haul trucking and traveled all over the United States.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Venia of Wauseon, Ohio, and Burnell “Butch” Venia, Jr., of Fayette, Ohio; five grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Venia of Milan, Mich.; and two half-sisters, Linda Shadbolt of Morenci and Deb Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Burnell was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kelly Venia; a brother, Dempsey Venia; and his step-father, Leroy Neill.
A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Arrangements were made through Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
