Robert J. “Peaches” Haley, 81, of Hudson, Mich., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, in Hudson from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born April 23, 1929, in Hudson to John William and Frances M. (Burns) Haley.
Joe retired from Bohn Aluminum in Adrian, Mich., and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hudson American Legion Hannan Colvin Post #180, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council #3221, 40 & 8 LeFemmes and the Hudson Senior Center.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, was named Veteran of the Year for Hudson in 2009. He served on the Planning Commission in Hudson for many years, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer for the Department on Aging.
Joe is survived by one sister, Greta Harkins of Jackson, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mildred Jackson; one brother, John Haley; and special friend, Betty Walker.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson, with Fr. Richard Eberle and Fr. H. Paul Ruddy as celebrants. Military interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson following the luncheon. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., a 40 & 8 LeFemmes memorial service and a Fourth Degree K of C chalice presentation to follow.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hudson American Legion.
