Jeanne “Jeannette” Tidwell, 99, of Morenci, Mich., died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Citizens for Quality Care in Adrian.
She was born on May 14, 1910, in Ruffey, France, the daughter of Louis and Marthe (Guerard) Bonin. She married Edward Tidwell in Paris, France, May 11, 1946. Edward preceded her in death July 27, 2004, after 58 years of marriage.
Jeannette came to Morenci in 1947 and became a United States citizen in 1955. She had also lived in San Pedro, Calif. and Dickson, Tenn. She was a seamstress at Winkleman’s in Dearborn for 10 years. Jeanette attended Our Lady of Mercy Church in Fayette, Ohio, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.
Survivors include a brother, Raoul (Simone) Bonin of Lyon, France; sister-in-law Joyce Bonin of Morenci; niece Michelle (and John) Skelly of Toledo, Ohio; great-niece Katelynn Skelly of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews in France.
Besides her husband, Edward, Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Fayette, with Fr. Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
