Arthur L. Schoonover, 77, of Camden, Mich., died July 22, 2009, at the Laurels of Coldwater.
He was born March 12, 1932, in Morenci, Mich., to Lenneth and Ruth (Keller) Schoonover. He married Martha Keil on June 29, 1957 and she preceded him in death April 27, 2009.
Arthur graduated from Morenci High School. He served in the U.S. Army 204th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean Conflict and earned a Bronze Star. He was also privileged to be an honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
Arthur retired from Simpson Industries/Metaldyne where he was a machinist and a union steward. He belonged to the Pioneer (Ohio) American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Arthur is survived by three daughters, Sandra (and Steve) Johnson of Coldwater, Mich., Sharon (and Rocky) Mauer of Three Rivers, Mich. and Susan Schoonover of Camden; one sister, Jeannette Cox of Fayette, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Camden Missionary Church with pastor Brian Colby officiating.
