Kenneth Grant, 92, of Hudson, Mich., died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the home of his daughter, Linda McNett, in Dover Township, Mich.
He was born June 8, 1917, in Continental, Ohio, the son of Lewis and Estelle (Lumis) Grant. He married Helen Staelens on Oct. 22, 1949, in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death Feb. 11, 2003.
Kenneth was a life-long Hudson-Morenci area farmer. He was also employed at Martin Marietta in Adrian until it closed in 1974. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Morenci American Legion Post #368.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (and Franklin) Stover of Fayette, Ohio, and Linda (and Roger) McNett of Clayton, Mich.; one son, Louis Grant of Clayton; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Grant of Onsted, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one step-great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Evelyn Wheeler of Bryan, Ohio, and Lenore Merillat of Hudson.
Besides his wife, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Joyce Messer; a son, James Grant; a step-grandson, Cliffton Stover; 10 sisters; five brothers; six step-sisters; and three step-brothers.
A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Samuel Wickard officiating. Burial will follow at the Canandaigua Cemetery in Canandaigua. Visitation is planned from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
