Jim McCaskey, 66, of Morenci, Mich., died Friday, July 17, 2009, at The Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Morenci, the son of William Harley and Alice Marie (Colegrove) McCaskey. On Feb. 27, 1965, in Wauseon, Ohio, he married Vickie Kay Manion and she survives.
Jim lived in the Morenci area all of his life and was a graduate of Fayette High School. He farmed and was employed at M & S in Morenci from where he retired in 1989, after 27 years of service.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 13, 1960, thru Sept. 9, 1963. He was a member of the Morenci Eagles Lodge #1297 and the Morenci American Legion Post #368.
Besides his wife, Jim is survived by three sons, Phillip (and Ronda) McCaskey of Morenci, Patrick (and Lenna) McCaskey of Waldron, Mich., and Christopher (and Jody) McCaskey of Morenci; six grandchildren; five sisters, Rita (and Richard) Borton of Riverside, Calif., Annabelle (and Lee) Peterson of Morenci, Peggy (and Larry) Johnson of Hudson, Mich., Susan (and Ronald) Merillat of Hudson and Karen (and Robert) Beck of Morenci; and four brothers, Robert (and Luella) McCaskey of Morenci, William (and Joyce) McCaskey of Hudson, Duane (and Arlene) McCaskey of Toledo, Ohio, and Larry McCaskey of Holly, Mich.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard McCaskey.
A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci , with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
