George Cleghorn Sr., 79, of Morenci, Mich., died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Royalton Township, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Ethel (Stubbins) Cleghorn. On Dec. 31, 1947, in Adrian, Mich., he married Delores Cundiff. She preceded him in death Aug. 20, 2001.
George lived in the Lyons and Morenci area all of his life. He was a member of the Medina Township Board. He retired from Tedrow Auto Wrecking after 50 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Milliron of Blissfield and Carol (and Michael) Culp of Morenci; two sons, Leonard (and Gail) Cleghorn of Morenci and George Cleghorn, Jr,. of Morenci; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and close friend, Marjorie Adams of Morenci.
Besides his wife, George was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Brooke Ann Cleghorn; two sisters, Mary Clymer and Caroline Taylor; and two brothers, Jerry and Lyle Cleghorn.
Funeral services are planned at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Duke University Medical Center for the research of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
