Clair Sower, 82, of Canandaigua Road, Morenci, Mich., died Monday, June, 8, 2009, at the Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Wauseon, Ohio, the son of Charles and Lydia (Gottschalk) Sower. On Aug. 11, 1944, in Adrian, Mich., he married Verla Nadine Clark. She preceded him in death March 21, 2007.
Clair was a lifetime member of the Lauber Hill Reformed Mennonite Church near Burlington, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 through 1946. He was formerly employed at Blissfield Manufacturing as a set-up man until March 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (and Michael) Adams of Canandaigua, Mich., and Kay (and Doug) Miller of Irish Hills, Lenawee County, Mich.; three sons, Charles (and Janice) Sower of Holt, Mich., Donald (and Lois) Sower of Adrian, and Steven Sower of Cornville, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Deana, Craig, Jeremy, Angela, Jacob, Jason and Jenna; and ten great-grandchildren, Calie, Caleb, Caylan, Camylie, Kelsie, Kendal, Kyla, Jaron, Marissa and Julia.
Besides his wife, “Deen,” Clair was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral service are planned at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Lauber Hill Reformed Mennonite Church near Burlington, Ohio, with Robert and Oakley Myers officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
