Leon E. Jagielski, 65, of rural Waldron, Mich., died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Leo J. and Dorothy (Konczal) Jagielski. He married Sherry Whistler on Jan. 5, 1963, in Toledo, and she survives.
Leon was a 1961 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. He retired in 2004 from Continental Tire in Bryan, Ohio, with 15 years of service. He was previously employed at American Ship Building Company in Toledo.
Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, and farming, and often helped with the Jagielski Farm Market.
Surviving Leon in addition to his wife are one daughter, Tammy (and Charles) Bernath of Pioneer, Ohio; four sons, Thomas (and fiancée Lori) Jagielski of West Unity, Ohio, Timothy (and Helena) Jagielski of Camden, Mich., Terry (and Aimie) Jagielski of Camden, Mich., and Todd (and Joni) Jagielski of Osseo, Mich.; three brothers, Joseph (and Carol) Jagielski of Maumee, Ohio, John (and Noi) Jagielski of Sanbornville, N.H., and Anthony Jagielski of Summersworth, N.H.; three sisters, Patricia (and Alex) Vinciczki of Sylvania, Dorothy (and Dan) Grochowski of Toledo, and Annie (and Rick) Amaya of Colorado Springs, Col.; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, Ohio, with Father Gary Ferguson as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township, Mich. Visitation is planned from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eagle Funeral Home- Barrett Chapel in Fayette.
