Charles Don Wilson, 76, of Morenci, Mich., died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio, following a period of failing health.
He was born July 27, 1932, in Fairfield Township, Mich., the son of H. F. and Ruby (Yates) Wilson. He married Lola Sue Collar on Dec. 20, 1953, in Angola, Ind., and she survives.
Don was a life-long Morenci area resident and retired from General Broach in Morenci in 1994. He graduated from Morenci Area High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Don loved music and played guitar for a number of years. He also enjoyed woodworking and cooking.
Surviving Don besides his wife, Lola, of Morenci are three children, Jo Rea (and Jerry) Keene and Connie Mirelez, all of Morenci, and Donald Alan (and Cassie) Wilson of Kentwood, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (and Missy) Keene and Deborah Mirelez of Morenci, Joshua (and Heidi) Keene and Nathan Mirelez of Adrian, Gideon and Greyden Wilson of Kentwood and Jessica Mirelez of Grand Rapids; and seven great-grandchildren, Marissa, Jared and MacKenzie Keene and Ethan McCowan, all of Morenci, and Chynna and Malik Mirelez and Heliel Williams, all of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Jay (and Nora) Wilson of Fairfield, Mich., and Robert (and Jan) Wilson of Morenci, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, I.C. and Jr. Wilson; and a daughter, Linda Sue, in infancy.
Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Dennis Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from noon until the time of service.
