Ethel S. Cox, 93, died April 26, 2009 at Tendercare Health Care of Adrian, Mich.
Ethel was born April 26, 1916, in Tipton, Mich., to Leon and Mildred (Richardson) Sallows.
She graduated from Lyons High School in 1933 and in 1936 she married Robert Cox. Together they had five children and owned a farm where they raised registered Herefords. Ethel was well known for her cooking and baking.
Ethel was a very active member of Lyons Christian Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, CWF member and a deaconess. She was a founding member of the State Line Extension Club, holding all office, and a 4-H leader for cooking, sewing, vegetable and flower gardening.
Ethel is survived by two daughters, Ann (and Kenn) Lemley of Riga, Mich., and Mary (and Dan) Gilson of Deerfield, Mich.; two sons, Mike (and Carol) Cox and Charles Cox of Morenci, Mich.; 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Standish.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Marilee Cox of Morenci; daughter-in-law Karen Cox of Morenci; one brother; two sisters; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Lyons Christian Church, Lyons, Ohio, where funeral services are planned at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at with Rev. Brent Pomeroy officiating. Internment will follow at Lyons Cemetery.
