Theodore W. Blank, 75, of Wauseon, Ohio, died early Friday, March 13, 2009, in his home.Mr. Blank was born May 30, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Kurt W. and Berta L. (Halt) Blank. On June 16, 1956, he married Mary Ellyn Lauber and she survives.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Blank worked for the former Sterling Shoppe Restaurant in Wauseon as the food service director. He was a member of the St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Blank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post #265, the Wauseon Lions Club, past president of the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Wauseon Homecoming Committee, the National Ice Cream Retailers Association and the American Turner Club.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Jamie (and Susi) Blank of Defiance, Ohio, and Jeff (and Kathy) Blank of Holland, Mich.; a daughter, Jenny (and Dale) Bates of Fayette, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Tony (and Angie) Blank, Anthony Blank, Jr., Kris Blank, Lindsey (and Joe) Blank, Tedd Blank, Bobby Blank Mary Blank, Trisha Bates and Tiffany Bates.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Leona Rasmusson; and an uncle, Erich Treichel.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon Monday, March 16, at the St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon. Friends may call at the church in the Pope John XXIII room from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Caspar Catholic Church, the Fulton County Health Center or the American Parkinson’s Foundation, 1250 Hylan Blvd, Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon.
