Wilma Tregoning, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at the Lynwood Manor in Adrian, Mich., where she had lived for the past eight years.
She was born July 4, 1915, in Delphos, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Roseanna (Walls) Hart.
Wilma grew up in Fayette, Ohio, and married Elwood W. Gillen of Morenci, Mich.
Wilma was a loving mother and hard worker all of her life, remembered for her wonderful cooking and especially her sugar cookies.
She and her first husband, Elwood, lived on a farm. They operated the Hotel Coffee Shop in Morenci for several years before Wilma began working as a nurse. She worked at the Morenci Area Hospital and was Director of Nursing at Detwiler Manor in Wauseon, Ohio, prior to retiring to Florida where she met and married Maurice A. Tregoning. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She is survived by two children, John C. (and Jane) Gillen of Morenci and Janis K. (and George) Becker of Manitou Beach, Mich.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, M. Joanne (and Phil) Stiverson, and a son, James E. Gillen.
A private family memorial and remembrance will take place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Lenawee or the Lynwood Manor Activity Department.
