Eva Lora Lester, 81, of Munson Hwy., Morenci, Mich., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at home.
She was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Blue Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Boothe) Moran. She married Howard “Sam” Lester on April 11, 1971, in Munson, Mich. He preceded her in death Dec. 11, 2003.
Eva lived in Lenawee County for more than 50 years, where she attended the Medina Federated Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was formerly employed at Fayette Tubular Products in Fayette, Ohio, retiring in 1988 after 23 years of service.Survivors include a son, Roger (and Gail) Burgess of Rome Center, Mich.; two daughters, Sue (and Dave) Bird of Lake Orion, Mich., and Karen (and Keith) Lockwood of Hudson, Mich.; four step-daughters, Ola (and Dick) Vine of Fayette, Ohio, Carol (and Richard) Shaffer of Morenci, Janice (and Gary) Gilpin of Morenci and Martha (and Jim) Oard; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, James and Marvin Moran, both of Ohio; and extended family Jeff and Deanna Kuebeck and family.
In addition to her husband, Eva was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Norman Hoover; a step-daughter, Nancy Lester; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Creger; and five brothers, Leonard, Silas, Charles, Milbert Moran; and one brother in infancy.
Funeral service are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Howard Yatzek officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation in planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
