Dr. Larry Hal Brown, 66, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Hospice of the Valley Sherman Home located in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Wayne, Mich., the son of Hal and Berneta “Rose” (Morgan) Brown.
Larry graduated from Morenci Area High School. He served in the U.S. Army for three years before attending numerous universities. He earned a Ph.D. from Florida State University and was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University. He served as an educator at several schools and universities. He loved his work with students, faculty and parents. Education was his passion and he impacted many lives in his journey through life.
Survivors include two sons, Todd (and Jennifer) Brown of Tallahassee and Scott (and Angela) Brown of Hernando, Miss.; one daughter, Sarah (and Michael) Chitwood of Arlington, Tenn.; his mother, Rose, of Morenci; six grandchildren; a sister, Tana Goen of England; four brothers, Gary Brown of Maumee, Ohio, Shawn Brown of Pulaski, Ohio, Brian Brown of Delta, Ohio, and Randy Brown of Savannah, Ga.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Hal, and nephew, Hal David Brown.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. James Yatzek officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
