He was born Feb. 17, 1908 in Morenci, Mich., to Israel C. and Ella Elizabeth (Beatty) Ort. He married Edna Leotta Manley on Jan. 25, 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1999.
Victor was a retired farmer and was employed as yard foreman at McCall’s Lumber in Hillsdale for many years. He was a member of the New Hope United Brethren Church in Camden, and his focus was always on God, church, family and friends.
Victor is survived by three daughters, Carolyn DeVoe of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Shirley Ort of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Sharon (and Roy) Brumbill of Kingsley; a son, Larry (and Judy) Ort of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence DePels Maeker of Sandusky and Neva Scoviac, of Hudson; and two brothers, Robert (and Barbara) Ort of Morenci and William (and Florence) Ort of Swanton, Ohio.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were July 11 at New Hope Brethren Church in Camden. Burial was in Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Brethren Church or Hospice of Hillsdale County. Arrangements were handled by George White Funeral Home in Camden.
