Evelyn Stites, 72, of Clayton, Mich., and formerly of Fayette, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at her home.
She was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Morenci, Mich., the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (King) Clark. On March 13, 1956, in Morenci she married William “Bill” Stites, Sr. He preceded her in death Dec.21, 2003.
Evelyn was a homemaker living most of her life in the Fayette and Morenci area where she was a member of the Morenci Congregational Church and a 1954 graduate of Morenci High School.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie (and Wayne) Meinke of Clayton; three sons, Albert (and Alice) Stites of Wauseon, William (and Lorinda) Stites, Jr., of Fayette, and Robert (and Carla) Stites of Bryson City, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Dunten of Morenci.
Besides her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Albert Stites., Jr.; two great-grandsons, Tynan Wise and Baby Ashbaugh; and three brothers, Richard, James “Bill,” and Samuel Clark.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Jim Moden officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is planned from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
