Eddress Mann of Morenci, Mich., died Dec. 31, 2008, at Citizens for Quality Care in Morenci where she had resided for the past two years.
She was the first-born daughter of Bettie Lee Love and William Lother Myers who preceded her in death.
Eddress graduated from Wood Junior College, Mathiston, Miss., where she was elected May Queen and sang in the girls sextet. Upon graduation, Eddress furthered her education at a business college in Chicago, Ill. She was employed in the offices of the Department of the U.S. Navy and IBM Corporation in Detroit, Mich., during World War II.
Eddress and Robert Mann were married in Angola, Ind., April 26, 1947. They resided on the family farm near Alvordton, Ohio, and were engaged in farming with Harold and Laura Mann until 1973.
They moved to Bryan, Ohio. Later Eddress lived with her son in Oakland Park, Fla., before moving to Morenci in 1998.
Eddress’s memberships included the former United Methodist Church at Alvordton and the Oakland Park Baptist church in Florida. She sang with the Sweet Adelines in Williams County and had sung in the choir at the Alvordton church and had performed solos. Eddress enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens on the farm. She also enjoyed needlework and sewing.
She is survived by two children, Lynda (and Gary) Head of Fayette, Ohio, and Roger Mann of Oakland Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Stacy Grava, Ryan (and Jilian) Head and Jason Head; three great-grandchildren, Griffin Grava, Keaton Boysel and Preston Head; a sister, Della Miller, and a nephew, Carl David Fulgham both of Columbus, Miss.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, Mich. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Interment will be in the West Franklin Cemetery near Fayette, Ohio.
