James W. Green of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Morenci, Mich., died unexpectedly Dec. 24, 2008, in Doctors Hospital in Columbus.

James was born Sept. 7, 1959, at Blanchard Hospital, Morenci, the son of Kenneth and Shirley (Lemke) Green.

James graduated from Morenci Area High School in 1978.

He started his career in cooking at Norman’s Restaurant in Lyons, Ohio, in 1976. In 1984, Jim joined the Old Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant chain.  For 24 years, he worked in many of their restaurants throughout the country. He was executive chef for the restaurant chain, receiving many awards over the years.

James is survived by his mother; sister, Becky Zook; and nephew Arthur Zook.  His father preceded him in death.  He will be greatly missed by two of his best friends, Ralph Wolfe and Russ Ballew.  He is also survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Funeral services are planned at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, Mich., with the Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Ohio. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home.
