Darl D. Stoops, 74, of rural Bryan, Ohio, and long time resident of rural Alvordton, Ohio, died Nov. 8, 2008, at Community Hospital and Wellness Center in Bryan, following a brief illness.
He was born April 24, 1934, in Morenci, Mich., to Letha (Bachman) and Guy Stoops. He married Patricia K. Manley on June 25, 1955, and she preceded him in death Oct. 30, 2000.
Darl was employed as an assembler at ARO Corp. in Bryan, retiring in 1996 after more than 33 years of service. He was a member of Lost Creek Emmanuel Missionary Church in Hicksville, Ohio.
Darl is survived by two sons, Dean (and Deb) Stoops of Kimmell, Ind. and Dale (and Mary) Stoops of Alvordton, Ohio; one daughter, Deanna Drinnon of West Unity, Ohio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lila Farquhar of Houston, Texas.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joy Renee Stoops in 1964, and one brother, Merle Stoops.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today), at Wilson Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier with Rev. Larry Grine and Rev. Max Masters officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Visitation is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
