Shirley L. Mavis, 73, of Alvordton, Ohio, died Nov. 7, 2008, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Care Center, Defiance, Ohio.
She was born May 26, 1935, in Alvordton, the daughter of Franklin R. and Ruth B. (Dilyard) Armbruster. She married William Mavin April 25, 1964, and he survives.
Shirley worked at the Ohio Art Company in Bryan, Ohio, from 1956 to 1963 and at Bryan Custom Plastics from 1965 to 1974. She was a 1953 graduate of Alvordton High School and a member of the United Church of God in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by two sons, Larry (and Jo Ellen) Mavis of Alvordton and Terry (and Cathy) Mavis of Archbold, Ohio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marcella Armbruster of Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Graveside services are planned at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio, with Elder Gary Nielander officiating. No visitation is planned. Arrangements were made by Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
