Herkle J. Bastien, 54, of Pittsford, Mich., died Aug. 16, 2008, at Hillsdale Community Health Center in Hillsdale, Mich.
He was born Feb. 15, 1954, in Hudson, Mich., the son of Herkle A. and Anna Mae (Armstrong) Bastien. He married Dawn Cooch on Aug. 29, 1981, in Wheatland Township, Mich., and she survives.
Herkle was employed at Bob's Agri Service in Pittsford and had previously worked at Hillsdale Tool for 24 years. He attended Wheatland Congregational Church, enjoyed farming and dearly loved his family.
Besides his wife, Herkle is survived by four children, Brian, Eric, Heidi and Holly Bastien, all at home; three sisters, Carolyn (and Thomas) Burkhart of Montpelier, Ohio, Brenda (and Bob) Godfrey of Pittsford, and Pamela (and Jerry) McNair of Hillsdale; one brother, John (and Joann) Bastien of Osseo, Mich.; father-in-law, Alfred Cooch and brother-in-law Tom Cooch, both of North Adams, Mich.; grandmother-in-law, Nora Double of Waldron, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Thomas Joseph; and mother-in-law, Reva Cooch.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. Visitation is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the funeral home.
