Mary Ellen Kempf, 68, of Fayette, Ohio, died April 17, 2008, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Marlinsburg, W. Va., while returning home from a funeral in Virginia. Her mother, Edna Eash Nofziger, was also killed in the accident.
Mary Ellen was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Hollsopple, Pa., the daughter of Robert and Edna (Blough) Eash. She married Darrell Kempf on July 30, 1966, and he survives.
As a resident of the Archbold, Ohio, and Fayette area most of her life, Mary Ellen was a homemaker and worked at Archbold Ladder and Lugbill Cookies, and she cleaned homes for several families in the area. She was a member of the Inlet Mennonite Church in rural Wauseon, Ohio.
Besides her husband, Mary Ellen is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Kempf of Pettisville, Ohio; three sons, Michael (and Diane) Kempf of Pettisville, Brian Kempf of Weston, Ohio, and Scott Kempf of Swanton, Ohio; three grandsons; two brothers, Sanford (and Linda) Eash of Wauseon and Duane (and Mary) Eash of Archbold; and one sister, Ruth (and Gene) Klopfenstein of Pettisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Joint memorial services for Mary Ellen and her mother, Edna, are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at North Clinton Mennonite Church with pastors Rick Jones and Brad Faler officiating. Interment will follow in Pettisville Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday).
