Larena Carpenter, 86, of Cavender St., Canandaigua, Mich., died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at home. She was born on July 10, 1921, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Pearly and Mabel (Wyse) Pike. On Aug. 8, 1942, in Montpelier, Ohio, she married William Carpenter and he survives.
Larena was a homemaker living in Canandaigua since 1974. She attended the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church.
Besides her husband, Larena is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Carpenter of Dallas Center, Iowa, Joan Wheeler of Morenci, Mich., Janice (and Michael) Snedeker of Jackson, Mich., and Florence "Jean" (and James) Karabinus of Swanton, Ohio; four sons, Robert (and Clarice) Carpenter of Peru, Ind., Ronald (and Cynthia) Carpenter of Hudson, Mich., Richard Carpenter of Morenci, and Denzel (and Pamela) Carpenter of Morenci; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Faye Carpenter of West Unity, Ohio, Ruth Vaughan of Miami, Fla., and Donna Fike of Adrian, Mich.; and three brothers, Lowell and Wayne Pike of West Unity, Ohio and Delmer Pike of Wauseon, Ohio.
Larena was preceded in death by her parents and three half sisters, Flora, Hazel and Bernice.
Funeral service are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church, west of Wauseon on Alternate 20, with Brother Fred Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery north of Pettisville, Ohio. Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee County.
