Teddy Cody Collar, 75, of Sand Creek,  Mich., died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Morenci,  Mich., to Wells and Lola Bertha (Cody) Collar.  He married Mary Lou Butler on Nov. 14, 1953, in Angola, Ind., and she survives.

Ted attended Morenci schools and graduated from Sand Creek High School on May 24, 1992.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the USS O’Hare and the USS Zellers during the Korean Conflict.

Ted had been employed by American Chain and Cable for 31 years. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He enjoyed watching bluebirds and purple martins, feeding both, and building bird houses for them. He also built grandfather clocks for all three of his children. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dave (and Dawn) Collar of Sand Creek; two daughters, Carol (and Allen) Huff of Sand Creek and Barb Allen of Clayton, Mich.; two brothers, Doyle (and Doris) Collar of Manitou Beach, Mich., and Roy Collar of Morenci; a sister, Lola Sue (and Charles) Wilson of Morenci; 12 grandchildren, Ryan Reitz, Marissa Reitz, Allison Hulshof, Kelsey Huff, Jeff Collar, Lisa Collar, Brian Collar, Angie Collar, Nicole Swander, Heather Barber, Anthony Muck and Stephanie Muck; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon Meyer, Laina Reitz, Evan Swander and Cameron Barber.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wells Collar; three half-brothers, Thomas Langford, Charles Langford and Clarence Langford; two half-sisters, Iva Emerick and Amy Collar; and two brothers and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is planned from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
